Tracked Music : the nostalgia

The first time I came in contact with Amiga MODs was sometimes back in 95, for some reason there
was quite a huge collection of mod files on the demo CD that came with a popular swedish “home pc user” magazine.
(I guess the editors had more class before.)

Well I truly fell for them right away, at that time I couldn’t quite comprehend what exactly
a tracked sound format was but I was pretty convinced that this much music must take LOADS of space,
so I secretly copied my favorite 10 tunes to our family’s pc hard-drive.

Later I somehow got my hands on the ModPlug tracker and seeing the patterns scrolling through I began to
understand what exactly a MOD was.

Around 2003 I discovered Sk@le tracker having read a few tutorials I got the hang of the basic hotkeys and
managed to teach my younger brother Niklas who quickly had me out-mastered.
A few years back a friend introduced me to MilkyTracker ; finally I had found a modern pure XM tracker with
built-in sample editor and generators I was exalted! And that’s just about how I still feel.
