In the Norse mythology – people believed that Nifelhem, the frozen underworld, was ruled by the queen of ice, Hel. The underworld was also the final resting place for the thralls, women and the unworthy. The Scandinavian languages still contain traces of this belief. Like the word hell which translates into “helvete”, can be further translated into “Hel’s punishment”, or “Hel’s Domain”.
When hell freezes over eh? In norse mythology it already has.
Well nothing of what I’ve learned about hel yet spoke of her looks, and that’s exactly the kind of voids I like to fill with my imagination!
So, I’m on a little coffee break from my work right now, thought I might as well let you know what I’m upto.
Yesterday an old buddy came home from norway and hang out at my place. But something slightly out of the ordinary happened. I received a compliment on my painting workflow, and that somehow felt just so right. Usually it’s quite hard to fully accept a compliment just as it is with the opposite. But not being complimented on the result but on the technique was surprisingly different, It felt really good! =)
I picked up something akin to that in school. Someone once discussed that as a parent you shouldn’t compliment your child’s painting on the result, but rather tell your child what a great choice of colors he/she made.
Well back to my work, deadline’s on tuesday, payday’s on monday.
Which means END OF STARVATION!
