So I’ve managed to invest in an Asus Eee 900 16GB. got one pretty cheap over at ebay.
I’ve spent the latest day installing and customizing my system and it’s safe to say that I’m very satisfied. (Especially since I found out that the neighboring offices run an weak WEP encrypted network ;-) ) 

Well I initially was set on acquiring an pandora unit but since they’ve been delayed so much and it’s specs are somewhat lower than most Eees I ended up with this toy instead.

What I had not expected was that it had OpenGL support, even though I only get about 700fps in glxgears it runs most old games pretty smooth. Oh yes, but the secret project I’ve been working on together with Henke kinda choked up and died the first time I tried it, we’ve spent the recent days optimizing our blending methods and now it’s almost usable.

Another nice suprise was that Wine nowmore supports wintab emulation, meaning that I can finally carry a digital sketchblock with me wherever i go.

Oh I almost forgot, I’ve found a pretty interesting solution to my captcha problems. http://recaptcha.net/
Not only does it provide an easily integrated api but also it harnesess the computional time of the human brain and uses your answers to translate failing OCR words. Read more about it following that link, it’s truly fascinating!
